PP reflections and SP transmissions are migrated and compared to the results from reduced-time migration. In chapter 3, wavepath migration was shown to be sensitive to the velocity model errors and since both the P- and S-wave Kidd Creek velocity models are incorrect I do not attempt to use wavepath migration here.
To process the data I resorted to the common receiver gather (CRG) domain, picked the first-arrival traveltimes, flattened the direct-P arrivals, and then picked the residual times to further flatten the direct P-wave. After flattening, I applied an eleven-point median filter to accentuate the reflection and transmission events, muted all but these events, and unflattened the events back to their original positions. A sample gather after bandpass filtering is show as Figure 4.2 and median filtering is as Figure 4.3.
